For decades, SOM has developed groundbreaking structural engineering solutions for some of the world’s most complex built projects. From the Burj Khalifa in Dubai to One World Trade Center in New York City, the firm’s integrated approach to structural engineering has defined city skylines and advanced the field of architecture. Beginning this October, 26 of SOM’s most complex and innovative structural engineering projects will be on display together in a public exhibition.
Held at the Utzon Center, named after renowned architect Jørn Utzon, designer of the Sydney Opera House, “Sky’s the Limit: The Engineering of Architecture” delves into SOM’s storied history of research, design, and realization of cutting-edge buildings. To inaugurate the exhibition on October 13th, 2016, SOM Structural and Civil Engineering Partner William F. Baker and Structural and Seismic Engineering Partner Mark Sarkisian will give a lecture on their work, followed by an opening reception at the Utzon Center. The exhibition will be on view through January 15th, 2017.
