Gunnar Hand to Participate in Designing Great Places Panel at TOD and Urban Real Estate Conference

Gunnar Hand, SOM’s Los Angeles City Design Practice leader, will participate in a panel discussion with other distinguished experts at the Transit-Oriented Development Institute’s TOD and Urban Real Estate Conference on Tuesday, May 3rd. Held at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s headquarters adjacent to Union Station, the region’s transit hub, the conference brings together leading? developers, designers, planners, elected officials, and investors—nationally and internationally—to share best practices of TOD.

In a panel titled “Designing Great Places,” Gunnar will be joined by moderator Michael Bello with Stefanos Polyzoides, John Torti, and Peter Cavaluzzi to discuss the creation of great public realms, placemaking details, smart codes, and other issues. Hand will focus on key SOM projects including Denver Union Station?, which won the Urban Land Institute’s 2015 ? Global Excellence Award, the Bakersfield High-Speed Rail Station Area Plan, Philadelphia 30th Street Station District Plan, and All Aboard Florida.
