This 3D-Printed Building and Car can Share Energy Wirelessly

The US Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has revealed a 3D-printed building, designed by the prominent architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) in collaboration with researchers from ORNL.

It is an energy-efficient building that can produce and store renewable energy and share it wirelessly with the associated 3D-printed car. The platform is called “Additive Manufacturing Integrated Energy” (AMIE), and is the result of a five-year collaboration between ORNL, SOM and the University of Tennessee.
