Middle East Consultant magazine recently announced SOM as the winner of its Architectural Firm of the Year Award. The inaugural awards program recognizes the best multidisciplinary consultants and construction specialists working in the region. The Firm of the Year Award celebrates SOM’s leading role in producing innovative architecture in the Middle East.
SOM has designed and built over 140 projects in the Middle East in the past 64 years—more than any other American firm. This experience has given SOM a unique understanding and appreciation for Middle Eastern regional architectural traditions and culture, and provided the opportunity to work closely with many diverse clients to fulfill their design goals. The firm’s notable projects in the region include the Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Saudi Arabia, the Burj Khalifa and Cayan Tower, both in Dubai, the Four Seasons Hotel in Manama, Bahrain, and the National Commercial Bank in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
