Jeff Goldsmith brings global expertise in design and construction law to his role as General Counsel. Responsible for SOM’s practice worldwide, Jeff advises partners and senior staff on a broad range of issues with an emphasis on architects’ and engineers’ professional liability. Given the multidisciplinary scope of SOM’s work, Jeff negotiates agreements and helps problem solve on a range of project types throughout the world, from small-scale product design to large scale city planning.
I accidentally got a taste for construction law when I started my career as a tree hugging environmental lawyer with the City of New York. These many years later, SOM has enabled me to satisfy my hunger for doing good for the earth on a truly global scale
Prior to joining SOM, Jeff practiced law at the New York City-based construction law firm LePatner & Associates LLP. He served as Construction Counsel for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation from 1996 through 2000.
