As part of the London Festival of Architecture, Dan Ringelstein, SOM Director of Urban Design and Planning in the firm’s London office, will present its master plan for New Covent Garden Market on June 22.
Created by SOM’s City Design Practice, the plan extends the redevelopment of the Vauxhall and Nine Elms neighborhoods in London, where a new skyline is beginning to emerge. Modernization of the wholesale fruit and vegetable market will focus on a “Garden Heart” – a new food quarter for London. Ringelstein will also explain how the release of surplus land on the site will allow 3,000 much-needed homes to be built in the area.
Tickets for the talk, along with information about other activities taking place across London during June, are available from the London Festival of Architecture’s website.
