On June 3, Teresa Rainey, SOM Director of High-Performance Design, will participate in a discussion on energy design, management, and benchmarking at the Center for Architecture. Guiding the conversation is the central question: Do energy standards and code requirements improve actual building performance?
To explore this topic, the panel will address how energy codes are developed, how energy benchmarking efforts have impacted retrofitting and retro-commissioning decisions, and how energy use information can be used to inform future policies in New York City.
Joining Rainey on the panel are John Lee, Deputy Director at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability, and Kristin Barbato, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Energy Management Officer of New York City.
