Join SOM as we participate in the 2026 Rowlett Lecture Series, hosted by the CRS Center at Texas A&M University, March 23-24, 2026. The program focuses on the convergence of art and science in contemporary architecture.
Led by SOM leaders across architecture, structural engineering, and the environment, the lecture will examine how creativity, engineering, technology, and environmental intelligence come together to address today’s most pressing global challenges. Case studies and research from recent SOM projects will illustrate how imagination and analysis combine to create buildings that are efficient, adaptable, and future-ready.
Principal Jose Palacios will represent Architecture; Partner Eric Long will represent Structural Engineering; and Shona O’Dea will represent Environmental Science, bringing their interdisciplinary expertise to the discussion.
The lecture and panel discussion will be followed by the Rowlett Workshop, where students and professionals will work through real-world design challenges alongside our team. The workshop will model the collaborative processes and workflows that define integrated practice from a construction and engineering perspective and will provide participants with hands-on experience in how art and science operate in tandem to advance low-carbon, high-impact architecture.
We are proud to join the CRS Center in advancing a deeper understanding of integrated design and in supporting the next generation of architects, construction, landscape, and engineering professionals through this influential series.
