Arathi Gowda has been named as one of ten recipients of Green Building & Design‘s Women in Sustainability Leadership Awards (WSLA). An Associate Director and sustainability team leader in the Chicago office, Gowda joined SOM in 2004 and has since guided several sustainability-focused initiatives.
A testament to Gowda’s global mindset is her development of a web-based high performance design portal, which aggregates and shares environmental design knowledge that is now used by SOM employees around the world.
Now in its sixth year, the WSLA program recognizes women who have dedicated their careers to creating a more sustainable world. Gowda and her fellow award recipients represent an array of industries, from the public sector and higher education, to construction and hospitality management. The WSLA winners will be honored at the annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Atlanta on Tuesday, November 19th. Additionally, Green Building & Design will host the 2019 award recipients and past winners for a WSLA Alumnae event and a volunteer activity with Girls on the Run.
