James Woodall works within SOM’s sustainable engineering studio, leading sustainable design across several award-winning buildings and large mixed-use master planning projects. James’s diverse skill set enables him to work at the intersection of architecture, environmental design, and social impact, collaborating with clients and consultants to create tangible sustainability outcomes. James’ notable work includes North America’s largest certified non-residential Passive House building (Clayton Heights Community Centre, Canada), a pioneering zero carbon new office building (City Place House, London, UK) and transformative mixed-use master plans such as MIND Milan, Sultan Haitham City in Oman, and Abu Dhabi’s Creative District. He has also played a pivotal role in the development of SOM’s innovative Whole Life Carbon Accounting, a standalone service which provides clients a holistic view of a project’s environmental impact.
