
SOM’s Carlos Madrid III has been selected as one of the jurors for the 40th Annual Interiors Awards presented by Contract magazine. The awards program honors projects across 16 professional project categories, including one category for student design projects. Award winners will be published in the January/February 2019 issue of Contract magazine and honored at the Interiors Awards Breakfast in New York on January 25th, 2019.
Madrid is a senior designer based in SOM’s Los Angeles office. He has more than 20 years of experience in the architecture and interior design industry and a portfolio that is diverse in scale, scope, and location. Recent project accomplishments include the $100 million upgrade of Los Angeles International Airport’s central terminal area; repositioning several developer-owned properties into creative workplace environments, such as Pen Factory and Awesomeness in Santa Monica, California, and 777 Aviation, a Craig Elwood modernist renovation in El Segundo, California; and re-imagining several L.A. commercial developments for CBRE Global Investors and Brookfield Properties.
Madrid is joined by fellow Interiors Awards jurors Shawn Sullivan of the Rockwell Group; Sarah Brophy with Interior Architects; and Carolyn BaRoss of Perkins+Will.
