SOM Receives Two Awards at 2018 MIPIM/AR Future Project Awards

On Thursday, March 15th, the Shanghai Old Town Master Plan won two awards at MIPIM/The Architectural Review’s Future Project Awards 2018 ceremony in Cannes, France. The project was named the Overall Winner, the program’s highest honor?, in addition to winning in the Regeneration and Masterplanning category.

Hosted by the international real estate investment conference and exhibition MIPIM, in collaboration with The Architectural Review magazine, the awards program recognizes excellence in unbuilt and incomplete architectural and urban design projects worldwide. Since its inception in 2002, the awards have become one of the most influential programs at MIPIM.

The Shanghai Old Town Master Plan creates a forward-looking vision for Shanghai’s Old Town area. It calls for cultural heritage preservation, adaptive reuse, waterfront access reestablishment, transportation access improvement, and other measures. SOM’s master plan aims to shape Old Town into a vibrant, mixed-use area that reclaims a level of vitality that matches the area’s historical significance.
