On Wednesday, April 4th, SOM Design Director Eric Keune will speak at Ciao Chicago’s Italian Design Night, an event hosted in conjunction with the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Chicago)?. Titled “Architecture + Oenology: Parallel Trajectories,” the discussion centers on the intersection of winemaking and architectural design. Joining Keune will be Rachael Lowe, Beverage Director and Sommelier at the Chicago restaurant Spiaggia. ?
Keune and Lowe will examine the role of architecture and design in the context of the wine industry. They will discuss such topics as the role of the winery as a destination enhanced and informed by architectural and landscape design and the evolution of wineries as a distinct building typology. AIA Chicago credits will be offered.
