The Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD) has been honored with an Excellence in Structural Engineering Award from the National Council of Structural Engineers Association. The annual program recognizes exemplary projects from around the world that reflect structural ingenuity. Projects are judged on innovation and creativity in design and achievement in engineering.
The award recognizes the significant structural achievement of the CCLD, which features a 105-foot-tall skylight aligned perfectly with the North Star. The building is composed of an architecturally exposed structural steel (AESS) frame that was designed to be efficient, highly constructible, and symbolic in appearance.
