Kent Jackson Presents a New Model for Future London Housing at TEDxUCL

Source: TEDx

Cities around the world are expanding rapidly, including London, which will grow by more than 1.5 million residents in just 15 years. Kent Jackson, SOM Design Director, presented SOM's research for a solution to this housing crisis at a recent TEDx event organized by University College London (UCL). TEDxUCL 2015 brought together more than 1000 attendees and 17 speakers to examine the theme of Growth and the ways in which we, and the world around us, can grow.

Jackson’s talk, presented in the category of Societal Growth, focused on the need to deliver high-quality, livable homes in large quantities to address the challenge of housing a rising urban population. Jackson presented SOM’s ideas for a flexible, livable, and sustainable solution for high-density housing in our expanding cities, and raised the argument that the challenge of housing should be treated as an opportunity to rethink and reshape the way we live in the 21st century.
