State Courthouse: High-Rise Justice

The new 22-story state courthouse, just over a year away from completion, is taking shape at State and C streets in downtown San Diego. The lower floors have been enclosed by precast, unitized curtain wall panels. The state seal has been installed at the entrance. And some 580 construction workers are spending 10 hours a day, six days a week on the job… Nearing its topping-out milestone, the 71-courtroom, 704,000-square-foot building is due to be completed at the end of 2016 and open for business in the early weeks of 2017. It will replace the 1961 county courthouse that spans three blocks along Front Street from Broadway to A Street…  The architect is Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and the general contractor is Rudolph and Sletten general contractors.?
