SOM Technical Partner Keith Boswell and SOM Associate Director Christoph Timm will speak at the Glass Performance Days 2015 conference in Tampere, Finland.
On June 25, 2015, Timm will give a presentation titled “1WTC and Hot Bent Glass in the Big Apple,” illustrated by examples from SOM’s extensive portfolio of structures that incorporate innovative glazing.
On June 26, 2015, Boswell will lead a discussion titled “High Performance Facades – Design Requirements” with Dr. Leon Jacob, director of Jacob & Associates in Australia. In his presentation, “High Performance Design Considerations – An Architect’s Perspective,” Boswell will discuss how architects collaborate with high performance facade design and construction consultants, how to integrate the input of these specialists, and what an architect needs to know to apply compositional and engineering strategies that become intrinsic to the design of an enclosure. He will illustrate how art, composition, materials, science, engineering, manufacturing, and construction all come together with examples of projects that are currently in progress.
