Julie Michiels

Julie Michels is committed to a holistic and human-centered approach to design. She calls on her experience as an architect, interior designer, and project leader to guide complex teams in developing innovative design solutions. With a focus on client service, collaboration, and designing from the inside out, she has been involved in award-winning projects—diverse in scale, location, and typology—from concept to completion.

It is important to have a vision, while knowing how to leave enough room for the end users to bring their own part of the story. Embracing the unexpected is always an important part of any successful design project.

Julie’s success as a designer and practice leader stems from her desire to interweave her own experience and design expertise alongside clients’ visions and goals. She believes that interesting design opportunities open up when there is room for cross pollination between various disciplines and points of view. In parallel to her design work, Julie is a contributing editor to MAS Context, a quarterly journal created by MAS Studio that addresses issues in the built environment.
