On Wednesday, March 7th, SOM Associate Director Yasemin Kologlu spoke at the 2018 Ecobuild Conference in London. As part of the “Designing for Health & Wellbeing in Offices” panel, Kologlu and other speakers discussed approaches for maximizing employee health and wellbeing in today’s office design, and how commercial leases are changing to keep up with changing trends and expectations.
Kologlu delivered a presentation titled “Evolution of the European Workplace and Wellbeing.” She explored the connection between the growing importance of wellbeing within workplace design and generational shifts in the workforce, such as the rise of millennials and Generation Z.
Kologlu shared insight on how designers can best respond to emerging trends and best practices to ensure they inform the design process from inception to delivery. “A generation of employees has entered the workplace with fully developed ideas on the importance of wellbeing,” said Yasemin. “As designers, we need to deliver workspaces that respond to new working practices, as well as a growing perspective of wellbeing as a right, not a privilege.”
