SOM was among the highlights of this year's Noldi Schreck Awards program. Two first place finishes and one runner-up selection were awarded to the BBVA Bancomer Operations Center and the BBVA Centro Tecnológico.
The Operations Center garnered both first place victories, in both the corporate architecture category and the corporate interior design category. The project consolidates and repositions BBVA Bancomer's physical presence in Mexico City. SOM's design accommodates the transformation of the company's operational structure from a traditional, hierarchical model to a more horizontal, collaborative organization. The building's scale and visual dynamism contribute to the area's pedestrian character, while creating an interior environment that supports productivity.
BBVA Centro Tecnológico finished in second place in the corporate architecture category, right behind the Operations Center. The building, a highly secure data center and office complex in Atizapán, Mexico, provides critical information technology support for the bank's operations worldwide.
The projects were announced as winners on Friday, November 9th during a ceremony at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. Hosted by Glocal Design Magazine, the annual awards program celebrates architectural projects and design professionals in Mexico.
