Three Projects Win at AIA Los Angeles Design Awards

On Monday, October 28th, AIA|LA named three SOM projects as winners in the 2019 AIA|LA Awards. The projects were recognized for design excellence across a range of categories, including Commercial and Mixed-Use, Educational, and Multi-Family Residential.

This year’s winning SOM projects are Bio-EsferaGeffen Hall, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA; and University of California, Santa Barbara, Tenaya Towers. Additionally, AIA|LA COTE—a division of the AIA|LA Design Awards—honored the UCSB Tenaya Towers project for its exemplary incorporation of sustainable practices and environmental performance.

The AIA|LA Design Awards honor projects built in Los Angeles or designed by local architects. SOM’s Los Angeles office, which was officially established in 2012, has recently completed the Long Beach Civic Center’s City Hall, Port Headquarters, and Billie Jean King Main Library. Other upcoming projects include a mixed-use development in Downtown Los Angeles, a creative office building in Pasadena, and a master plan for downtown Bakersfield, California.
