Associate Director Susan Bartley has been named one of Los Angeles Business Journal‘s “Outstanding Women in Construction & Design” for 2020. The honor recognizes Los Angeles-based leaders who have impacted construction—an industry that, according to labor force statistics cited in the issue, includes only 10% women—by helping to create a more diverse and inclusive space for future generations.
During her time at SOM, Bartley has led the design management for several new civic buildings in the L.A. region, including courthouse, administration, and operational facilities for federal, state, and city agencies. Most recently, she worked on the LAX Airport Police Facility and the New United States Courthouse – Los Angeles, which received a 2019 AIA National Honor Award for Interior Architecture.
