In Los Angeles on Wednesday, December 9th, to Friday, December 11th, business and political leaders will come together with the world's top experts for the High Speed Rail Conference. Hosted by the United States High Speed Rail Association and national in scope, the conference will focus on the 800-mile California High-Speed Rail system, the first phase of which is now under construction.
Gunnar Hand, an Urban Designer in SOM’s Los Angeles office, will participate in the Transit Oriented Development Roundtable, which will take place on Thursday, December 10th. A proponent of transit-oriented development who has launched rail advocacy nonprofit organizations, Hand will contribute an array of knowledge and insights from his experiences planning compact, walkable, mixed-use communities around train systems in Los Angeles and Kansas City.
