In September, SOM Director Yue Zhu and Associate Directors Thomas Kinzl, Martin Liepmann, and Phil Obayda will speak at Virtual Festival of Facades. The event, a three-month-long series of panel discussions and workshops on facade engineering and design, is presented by Zak World of Facades.
On Wednesday, September 2nd, Thomas Kinzl presented “Innovation and Trends in Facade Design of Supertall Towers.” Kinzl’s presentation addressed integrated design, parametric design and optimization, innovations in facade design, and the structural and technological possibilities for facades of future buildings.
On Thursday, September 10th, Martin Liepmann and Phil Obayda will co-present “The High-Rise Typology’s 10 Year Challenge.” The two will discuss current perspectives on the typology and opportunities to redefine high-rise design through new collaborations and partnerships such as AMIE 1.0 and Moon Village.
Yue Zhu will present “Rethinking Facades for Zero-Carbon Future.” The date and time of his presentation will be updated on the event website.
