In May 2019, SOM will begin accepting applications for the Year One program. Year One combines entry-level opportunities with an accelerated program for professional development in architecture, engineering, urban planning, or interior design.
Students completing a degree in 2019 are invited to apply. Those selected for the program will be paired with senior-level mentors, join colleagues on site visits, explore our project archives, receive resources to succeed on the ARE exam, and more.
First launched in 2018, Year One is a platform for entry-level employees in our offices firmwide, to engage with SOM in a more immersive way. Says SOM Director Carrie Moore, “Participants are not only able to contribute to the firm’s exciting current projects and our long history of design excellence, they are also encouraged to express their ideas to help shape the firm’s future.”
Year One participants supplement their project-based work with a range of activities and creative initiatives. “From the Canstruction pro-bono project in New York and the Graduate Shows organized around the firm, and many other projects,” says Moore, “we’re proud of what our first Year One group has accomplished and we look forward to entering a second year of the program.”
For the 2019 program, the application period for the U.S. and London offices will be open from May 13th through July 12th, 2019. Offers will be extended by August 12th.
