Architizer has recognized SOM as one of the world's top architecture firms in the 2021 A+ Firm Awards. From among 400 submissions, SOM was selected as the winner of the public projects category, and was among the finalists in the sustainability category.
The public projects category honors firms that have demonstrated excellence in the public realm in the last decade, from cultural projects to urban planning and transportation. Among SOM's completed work recognized by Architizer are Moynihan Train Hall, Brightline, Denver Union Station, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport – Terminal 2, the New United States Courthouse – Los Angeles, and the Chicago Public Library, Chinatown Branch.
In the sustainability category, SOM's recognized portfolio of work included the courthouse, the Chicago library, AMIE 1.0, the Billie Jean King Main Library, JTI Headquarters, and the Kathleen Grimm School for Leadership and Sustainability at Sandy Ground.
