SOM Competes in CTBUH Award Finals

Three SOM projects are scheduled to compete in the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) awards program at the 2019 Tall + Urban Innovation Conference. The conference, which will take place in Shenzhen, China and is hosted by CTBUH, focuses on innovation in the design and construction of tall buildings around the world.

More than 60 teams of owners, developers, architects, and engineers will present their projects—all of which were honored in the 2019 CTBUH Awards in November—to juries in each of the program’s 17 categories. One project in each category will be named “Overall Category” winner.

On Tuesday, April 9th, SOM Associate Directors Zhaofan Li and Christopher Wollaston will present Manhattan Loft Gardens in the Best Tall Building category. The building was previously honored with two Awards of Excellence at the CTBUH 2019 Awards (one in the Best Tall Building 100-199 meters category, and another in the Structural Engineering category).

On Wednesday, April 10th, SOM Director Ame Engelhart will represent Tanjong Pagar Centre in the Urban Habitat – Single Site category, as well as the SOM-engineered Five Manhattan West in the Renovation Award category.
