On March 25th, 2019, SOM joined the Kansas City Aviation Department, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, major airlines, developer Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate, design-builder Clark | Weitz | Clarkson (CWC), and organized labor and business representatives to break ground on the Kansas City International Airport New Terminal, a state-of-the-art travel hub.

The Kansas City Star reports on the groundbreaking of the new single terminal at Kansas City International Airport. The terminal, which is scheduled for completion in 2023, will include 39 gates and will have flexibility to expand to 50 gates in the future.
