SOM Associate and Mechanical Team Leader Rebecca Delaney has been selected by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs to join the Emerging Leaders Class of 2017. The program recognizes the next generation of leaders across all industries in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in Chicago.

Delaney is the first member of the Emerging Leaders program from the architecture, engineering, and construction industries to be chosen since the appointment of architect Jeanne Gang in 2011. The Chicago Council on Global Affairs is considered one of the preeminent organizations for the study of foreign policy and international relations in the United States.

Leading projects from SOM's Chicago office, Delaney works closely with design teams to create and implement vital sustainable engineering schemes. She also volunteers with Engineers Without Borders, the ACE Mentor Program, and serves on the Penn State College of Engineering Young Alumni Board. An industry leader in engineering, she was recognized by her alma mater, Pennsylvania State University, in the 2015 AE Early Impact and Alumni Achievement Awards, and was a recipient of a 2014 ASHRAE New Face of Engineering award.
