On Thursday, August 24th, Philip Enquist, SOM Partner in Charge of Urban Design and Planning, will participate in the BuiltWorlds Cities Conference in Chicago. Speaking on a panel titled "The Ecology of a City," Enquist will present the SOM-designed Detroit East Riverfront Framework Plan as an innovative case study.
The Detroit East Riverfront Framework Plan, developed in collaboration with the City of Detroit and the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, builds on a ten-year initiative led by the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy. The plan is designed to preserve nearly eight acres of green space along the riverfront for community use; generate greater public access to the Detroit River; and catalyze investment in the area.
Joining Enquist on the panel will be Drew Wensley, CEO of Moriyama + Teshima Architects, and Meiring Beyers, Director and Co-Founder of Klimaat Consulting & Innovation Inc. The conference will take place at the SOM-designed UI Labs in Chicago.
