Director Peter Kindel, who leads the firm’s California-based City Design Practice for western North America, will speak at the CityAge: Build the Future conference in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 16th.
During a session titled “Now and Next: Sustainable Urbanism that Blends Infrastructure, Natural Systems, and Architectural Design,” Kindel will present SOM’s recent collaboration with National Geographic magazine on the development of a conceptual future city and the application of these ideas to existing urban environments. He will also discuss how biomorphic urbanism can help us achieve humane and ecologically-restorative cities that are grounded in their specific locales and cultures.
