On Tuesday, September 1st, Design Partner Kent Jackson and Structural Engineering Director Dmitri Jajich will participate in City Architecture Forum's 2020 Digital Lecture Series. The two will discuss 100 Leadenhall Street, a new tower proposed for the Eastern Cluster, a high-rise district in the City of London. Planned in anticipation of Leadenhall Street's growing importance as a major city thoroughfare, the 56-story building is expected to become a new gateway to the city.
In "Engineering New Architecture: 100 Leadenhall," Jackson and Jajich will discuss the distinctive design of the tower, which rises from a hexagonal plan and tapers to a four-sided crown at its apex in order to preserve key viewpoints while enhancing the public realm. Jackson and Jajich will also share insight on the design process, in which SOM's integrated team of architects and engineers worked closely with city planners, and on SOM's history of innovative structural design.
Established in 1991, City Architecture Forum is a professional group that facilitates discussions of architecture and public space in the City of London. Learn more about the organization and the ongoing Digital Lecture Series here.
