Skidmore Owings & Merrill is best known in Chicago for designing skyline-defining buildings like Willis Tower and the John Hancock Center. Jonathan Stein wouldn’t mind seeing his firm add another trophy to that mix.
Stein, 47, was recently promoted to managing partner at SOM and moved here from New York to lead the architecture firm’s office in Chicago with managing partners Xuan Fu and Jeffrey McCarthy. The trio oversees all business and design-related questions for the approximately 355-person office.
