The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has named four SOM projects as 2020 Award of Excellence winners. Tianjin CTF Finance Centre, Pudong Financial Plaza, Pazhou Poly, and 500 Folsom earned awards in this year's program.
Tianjin CTF Finance Centre, a new landmark in the Chinese city's financial district, was awarded in three categories: Best Tall Building 400 Meters and Above, Construction, and Structural Engineering. Pudong Financial Plaza, a pedestrian-focused mixed-use development in Shanghai, was recognized in the category Urban Habitat – District/Master Planning Scale. Pazhou Poly, a mixed-use office and retail complex in Guangzhou, was named a winner in the Best Tall Building 300-399 Meters category. 500 Folsom, a 42-story mixed-use tower in San Francisco, won a Geotechnical Engineering award.
The CTBUH Annual Awards recognize projects that have made significant contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest level. Representatives for each project will travel to Chicago in April to present at the Tall + Urban Innovation Conference.
