Earthquakes: How Well Are We Prepared?

Georgi Petrov, SOM Associate, will participate in a discussion on earthquake engineering and seismic design at the Center for Architecture in New York City. Petrov will add his structural engineering insight to a panel featuring seismologists, seismic code experts, and emergency response managers. Topics addressed will include new seismic technologies and construction approaches and the role of design professionals, the building industry, and local and federal agencies in protecting local communities. The event is held in conjunction with the exhibition “Considering the Quake: Seismic Design on the Edge,” currently on view at the center.
