Douglas Voigt to Speak at 2019 Chicago River Summit

On Thursday, March 14th, Douglas Voigt, SOM Director of Urban Design and Planning, will serve as a moderator at the 2019 Chicago River Summit hosted by Friends of the Chicago River, an organization focused on improving the health of the Chicago River.

Voigt will participate in the final panel of the day, titled “The Possibility Panel: Strengthening the Blue/Green in our Region.” Featuring local and national leaders, the panel will consider best practices for protecting the Chicago riverfront corridor, improving conditions for wildlife and residents and creating a resilient, sustainable community. Panelists will discuss the social, economic, and environmental value of blue/green corridors in the face of climate change.

Speakers include Liza Lehrer, Assistant Director, Urban Wildlife Institute at Lincoln Park Zoo; Betsy Daub, Conservation Director, Friends of the Mississippi River; Beth White, President and CEO, Houston Parks Board and Bayou Greenways; Andy Donakowski, Policy and Planning Specialist, Friends of the Chicago River; and Horacio Martinez Michel, Mechanical Engineer, Arcadis Arcadis North America.
