South by Southwest's PanelPicker vote is underway, allowing the public to help choose the programming for the 2021 SXSW Online Conference. SOM's proposal—"10 Ideas for Pandemic Design"—is among the candidates under the theme "A New Urgency," which focuses on issues like poverty, climate change, and racial justice in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SOM's 10 design ideas represent a visionary strategy for rethinking the spaces where our lives take place in response to the pandemic. If selected, Design Partner Scott Duncan and Director Julia Murphy will present our research into the ways architecture and urban design can act as an immune system for our communities. Viewers will gain an understanding of how urban design, adaptive reuse, and the design of offices, airports, residences, schools, and hospitals can help us adapt to a new normal. The presentation will show how the built environment can prepare us for future pandemics, and how we can reimagine every aspect of our lives for the better.

Voting is open until November 20.
