Partner Carrie Byles will serve as a juror for the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation’s (BWAF) Built by Women competition. The annual program recognizes significant works by women architects, landscape architects, urban designers, engineers, contractors, and developers in the Los Angeles Metropolitan area, with the longterm goal of increasing female representation in the AEC industry.
Byles is one of eight jurors on the all-women panel. While this is the competition’s first year in Los Angeles, it is modeled on BWAF's similar, successful programs in New York and Washington D.C. Winning projects will be featured in a Built by Women map, programming, and exhibitions during the 2020 AIA Conference on Architecture, also being held in Los Angeles. Submissions for the Built by Women program are due October 15th, 2019.
Established in 2002, BWAF is a non-profit organization that seeks to further the knowledge and recognition of women’s contributions to architecture. For more information about the organization, visit www.bwaf.org.
