Brian Lee Presents on Innovation in Practice at University of Tennessee

On Tuesday, October 20th, SOM Design Partner Brian Lee will give a lecture titled “Work – Innovation in Practice” at the University of Tennessee (UT). Part of the College of Architecture and Design's Robert B. Church Memorial Lecture Series, he will reflect on a practice and body of work that values innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration to produce buildings and environments that address context, tectonics, and shared meaning.

He will also discuss the Additive Manufacturing Integrated Energy (AMIE) project, which features an SOM-designed 3D-printed enclosure that is powered by a 3D-printed vehicle. AMIE demonstrates a new approach to energy use, storage, and consumption. AMIE is a recent collaboration with researchers from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory and students and faculty from the UT College of Architecture and Design.
