On Thursday, March 15th, SOM Associate Director Brian Kaplan joined a panel discussion hosted by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) New York Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Titled “Unsung Protagonists: The Power of Women in 21st Century Architecture,” the event was organized to commemorate Women’s History Month.
Kaplan and other participants discussed the contributions of women to the architectural profession, workplace dynamics, and strategies for equitable career development. Panelists were: Dr. Sharon E. Sutton of the University of Washington; Hayes Slade of AIA New York; Isabel Castilla of James Corner Field Operations; Susan Chin of the Design Trust for Public Space; and Danei Cesario of Array Architects. Joining Kaplan as commentators were James Crispino of Gensler and Douglas Wyatt Hocking of Kohn Pedersen Fox.
