On Monday, October 28th, SOM architects will lead a tour of The Cheryl and Philip Milstein Teaching and Learning Center at Barnard College as part of Archtober's "Building of the Day" program. Archtober is an annual month-long celebration of architecture and design in New York City organized by the Center for Architecture. The Archtober "Building of the Day" program celebrates both contemporary and historic architecture throughout the city with daily on-site tours, led by architects involved in each project.
Located at the heart of campus, The Milstein Center is the hub of academic and intellectual life at Barnard College. The 128,000-square-foot building includes expanded user seating and archival storage, state-of-the-art multimedia facilities, flexible teaching labs and learning spaces, and a computational science center. Designed to serve as a campus crossroads, The Milstein Center brings students and faculty together distinctively, facilitating collaborations and fostering dialogues.
In addition to "Building of the Day" tours, Archtober features lectures, film screenings, and exhibitions that focus on the importance of architecture and design.
