The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), New York Chapter, has selected SOM's Guiyang Nanming Culture CBD Master Plan as a 2016 Merit Award winner. Leveraging the growth potential of Guiyang, a vibrant city poised to play a significant role in the rapid development of inland China, the project advocates for the renewal of Guiyang's historic urban core, while establishing a framework for greater density, sustainable growth, and a rich public realm including 54 hectares of new parks.
An interdisciplinary jury comprised of landscape architects and allied professionals selected the winners of this year's ASLA New York Chapter Design Awards, which recognize exemplary work by ASLA New York members. “The body of work represented by this year’s award recipients is very inspiring as these projects will bring joy to those visiting these landscapes and awareness to our profession," said Celine Armstrong, 2016 ASLA New York President.
The awards will be presented on April 7, 2016 in a ceremony and reception; the award-winning projects will be exhibited at the Center for Architecture throughout the month of April.
