Young & Rubicam Renovation Feasibility Study

Young & Rubicam, Inc., one of the largest advertising agencies in the world, has sought out SOM’s services more than once in regards to studying the potential renovation and space efficiency of its Manhattan office space (mainly including its 285 Madison Avenue building).

Most recently, SOM has once again been called upon to undertake the building evaluation and space planning study for this media company with the goal of increasing the efficient use of space. Because of the special needs of departments, and the need for collaboration within these separate disciplines, a design strategy plan was required for over 800,000 square feet. of this advertising conglomerate which includes Print Media, Multi-media, and Direct Marketing. Made up of many branded identities, the different organizations need to be able to function independently with clients while collaborating with other organizations internally. As a result of SOM’ space utilization feasibility study, potential efficiency was improved by 19 percent through the use of densification, resulting in 332 extra seats.
