With Disney, a Manhattan Neighborhood Reinvents Itself

. . .

The new home for Disney, which owns ABC and other networks, is taking shape across an entire city block bound by Hudson, Spring, Varick and Vandam Streets. Known (for now) as 4 Hudson Square, the 19-story, 1.2-million-square-foot complex office and studio space was designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill. Most of the buildings on the site were demolished by last month.

. . .

The new property will consist of a pair of 320-foot towers, whose heights were dictated by a 2013 rezoning of the area. Joining them will be lower midblock sections and several landscaped terraces. All told, there will be 30,000 square feet of outdoor space.
