On Thursday, July 13th, SOM Structural and Civil Engineering Partner William F. Baker will deliver a keynote presentation at the Structural Engineers World Congress (SEWC) in Bangalore, India. Themed "Architecture-Structure Interaction for a Sustainable Built Environment," the congress will focus on innovative uses of concrete in highly sustainable projects.
An advocate for integrated architectural-engineering practice, Baker has dedicated his career to advancing the profession of structural engineering through design, research, teaching, and professional activities. He has led the structural design of some of the world's most influential buildings, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest manmade structure on earth.
During the congress, Baker will be honored with the SEWC Sundaram Award for Outstanding Structural Engineers. While in Bangalore, Baker will also meet with students and faculty of REVA University, the region's leading school of engineering.
