William F. Baker to Speak at 2016 IABSE Future of Design Conference in London

SOM Structural and Civil Engineering Partner William F. Baker will deliver a keynote at the 2016 Future of Design symposium, hosted by the British Chapter of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering. In his presentation, titled "Geometry and the Design of Structures," Baker will discuss the confluence of engineering and architecture, shedding light on SOM's integrated design process. A leading structural engineer and academic, Baker is best known for the development of the buttressed core structural system for the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest manmade structure.

Baker will join speakers from leading firms and universities from around the world, including Foster + Partners, Arup, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and the Universities of Venice and Queensland. Now in its tenth year, the annual Future of Design conference is aimed at promoting innovation and inspiring designers of the future.
