SOM Structural and Civil Engineering Partner William F. Baker will deliver a lecture titled “Geometry and Structure in Architecture” on November 13, 2014, at the AIA New York Center for Architecture. The talk will focus on how the geometry of a structural system is critical to its function, effectiveness, and efficiency, and it will explore both classical and emerging structural systems techniques that will shape future built environments.
Erleen Hatfield, Principal at Buro Happold, an engineering firm, will join Baker at the end of the lecture for a short conversation and audience Q&A session. The event is co-sponsored by the AIA New York Center for Architecture and the Museum of the City of New York (MCNY).
Admission is free for AIA, ACEC, and MCNY members. 1.5 AIA/CES Learning Units are available. Members can obtain tickets here.
Tickets are $12 for students and seniors, and $16 for the general public. A 40 percent discount is available on the MCNY website using the code BILL 13.
