On Thursday, August 3rd, SOM Structural and Civil Engineering Partner William F. Baker will participate in a live webinar hosted by the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA). Titled “Geometry and the Design of Truss Structures,” Baker's presentation will focus on how an understanding of the geometry of forces can influence the design of trusses. Baker will also explore how theoretical innovations by structural pioneers can be combined with state-of-the-art optimization tools to create highly efficient truss structures.
A leader in the design of innovative structural systems, Baker has dedicated his career to the advancement of structural engineering through research, practice, and teaching. He has led the structural design of some of the world’s most influential buildings, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest manmade structure on earth.
