The University of California, Berkeley College of Environmental Design is hosting a reception and exhibit of watercolors by John Kriken, the founder of SOM’s San Francisco-based Urban Design + Planning Studio, and currently a consulting partner. The event on Monday, February 6th will feature works from Kriken's book The Sunday Afternoon Watercolor Society: San Francisco Impressions.
At the reception, original watercolors will be available for sale along with copies of the book. All proceeds from book sales will benefit the Kriken Urban Design Graduate Student Award Fund at UC Berkeley.
Kriken is an internationally known city planner and urban designer. His work has won more than 35 national and international design awards from Progressive Architecture, the American Institute of Architects, Urban Land Institute, and American Society of Landscape Architects, among others. He is a founding member of the 40-year-old Sunday Afternoon Watercolor Society.
