With such notable projects as One World Trade in New York City and the NATO headquarters in Brussels, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the venerable Chicago-based architecture firm, has built a worldwide reputation for excellence. And although its most recently completed project, a skyscraper in Beijing, isn’t as high-profile as some others, the end result is still stunning. The Beijing Greenland Center features a trapezoid-clad exterior with glass panels that, through simple formation, capture and refract daylight in the beautiful way we’ve come to expect from nearly all SOM projects.
